“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”
Luke 16:10 NLT
I finally did it! When my cable carrier discontinued my discount, I told them to disconnect my services. The new price didn’t fit into my budget, so I cut the cord!
I’ve always had a television, so this is a whole new experience for me. Disconnecting cable permanently feels a lot like the time I finally disconnected the landline! I hung onto a landline several years after using a cell phone. It took a while getting used to the loss, but once I did, I didn’t miss it all.
Even though the increase in the cable service was the straw that broke the camel’s back, I’ve known for a while that I needed to eliminate television but never had the nerve to do it.
Before, at the end of the day, I would sit down and watch a good Hallmark movie, even if I felt the Lord nudging me to write. I thought I would write on my schedule rather than responding to His nudge. The trouble with that many times was by the time I settled in to write the inspiration was gone, and I was left with a blank page. Each time that happened, I knew I had missed an opportunity.
So, what’s the spiritual lesson in all of this? Obedience to God in every area of life. Whatever “It” is that keeps you from yielding to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, then “It” needs to go or be told no!
Writing may be a hobby, but it belongs to God!
